FUN FACTS & TIPS

A little info about color bleeding ...

Garments that are made in countries like China and Indonesia can be problematic. Items from these countries that have Dry Clean Only labels, often have issues with color bleeding. This continues to be an ongoing problem especially with two-tone black and white garments. During the 1970’s and 1980’s, United States clothing manufacturers had trouble with dyes running in the dry cleaning process. Today in the United States, however, most manufacturers have figured out how to properly set dyes and no longer have this issue. Many companies in China, on the other hand, have not been able to set dyes properly. Check your care label before purchasing your garments, and ask the store what their policy is if colors fail in the dry cleaning process. Be extra cautious when purchasing white garments with black piping or trim.

Are you storing your clothing in plastic?

You should never leave things stored in plastic. The plastic bags that we use are for protection when transporting your clothes. Leaving your garments stored in these bags can promote mold and mildew. White garments may start to yellow when left in plastic over sustained periods of time.

Did you know????

Moths do not eat fabric. Moths actually eat stains that are left on your garments which in turn damages and weakens the fibers. The weakened fabric results in holes over time and may not be obvious until after subsequent cleanings. Have your garments cleaned and carefully inspect them before putting them away to ensure there are no stains.

Stain Removal

You should never try to wipe off a stain from a fabric. The wiping action usually causes color loss and can potentially cause the stain to set. The best action is to do nothing and bring the garment to the dry cleaner as soon as possible. At Pacific Cleaners our experienced technicians use specialized techniques, solvents and equipment to remove even the toughest stains. Professional stain removal is very complex and we take pride in our abilities to restore garments to their original beauty.
